Flood Warning: Groundwater flooding in Bramdean and Cheriton

Groundwater levels in Bramdean and Cheriton are high and falling slowly. In the last week, the level at Cheriton Wood has fallen by 30cm. We expect isolated properties in Cheriton will be affected by cellar flooding. Septic tanks will be struggling to operate effectively. During the next 5 days, spells of rain and showers, some of which may be heavy, are expected to affect Hampshire, with between 5 and 30mm of rain possible in that time. Groundwater levels are expected to fall during the course of this week. If relatively dry weather is forecast next week, this Flood Alert will be removed. If heavy rain affects the area, then flooding impacts will be slightly prolonged. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operational. This Flood Alert will be updated or removed by 18:00 on Thursday 23/05/2024.
