Flood Warning: Groundwater flooding in Kings Somborne and Little Somborne

Message Last Updated:

Severity Last Changed:

Groundwater levels in Kings Somborne and Little Somborne are high but have fallen by 10cm in the last week. During that time, 21mm of rain has been recorded at Broughton. Isolated properties will likely still have residual flood water affecting their cellars. Tankering in the village is ongoing. During the next 4 days, spells of rain and showers, some of which may be heavy, are expected to affect Hampshire, with between 5 and 30mm of rain possible in that time. Groundwater levels are expected to continue slowly falling during the next week, but may stabilise or rise for a day if heavy rainfall affects the area. If relatively dry weather is forecast next week, this Flood Alert will be removed. We continue to monitor the levels and forecast. If you have pumps to help reduce water levels, please ensure that they are operational. This Flood Alert will be updated or removed by 18:00 on Thursday 23/05/2024.
